The Luxury That's Always Affordable
Aside from the odd $65 ball of some exotic fiber combed from the underbelly of an albino yak, most yarns that we buy and use are well within our personal comfort zones of "affordable luxury."

And the beauty is that the joy doesn't end with the purchase - it's just begun!  There's the matching the yarn to the right pattern, the working of the swatch, the actual knitting of the garment and then the wearing - or gifting - of the item.

Each step brings us a little more joy, a little more peace and calm, and a lot more happiness.  As I am fond of telling my students, "We don't knit to make things."  

We all know we can purchase a sweater at a department store cheaper, easier and faster than we could ever knit it.  

No, we don't knit to make things, we knit to make ourselves happy.

New Dates
East Coast Fun
As long as I'm going to be in Rhode Island I figured I'd try to do a few classes in the Boston area.  I'll be at Webs out in Western, MA on Nov 1st, and I'm tentatively scheduled for Seed Stitch Yarns in Salem, MN on Nov 5th.  

And, of course, I'll be at Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI on Nov 7-9 with Norah Gaughan, talking about knitting and maybe even singing (with enough beer...)
