| Sideways Spencer Redux (and a gift!) In celebration of some new designs I'm working up, I've re-released a pattern from Interweave Knits (Fall 2004) in a reworked version. It's now in EIGHT sizes (originally it was just in 3) and in it's new incarnation I feel it's a simpler and easier to modify pattern. My goal is to create patterns that a knitter can make THEIR OWN, to fit their own body, and this one seems relatively easy to alter. For the past month it's been beta knit by a small group, and now I'm ready to offer the new and improved Sideways Spencer (Redux) for sale! For the month of February - because it's cold and I'm giddy - I'm offering a 15% discount on all my patterns for my newsletter readers. February & Into March I'll be traveling to NJ / NY / CT / MA in late Feb & March, it will be SO wonderful to be back "home" for a bit! I feel as though I'm teaching so many classes, but when I look at the list, it appears to be such a small number of venues... Below is a breakdown of my classes. As I said last month, my goal is to spend as much time as possible home with Gerry. But a girl's gotta eat - and I thrive when I teach - so it's in everyone's best interest if I get out of the house every month or so for some classes. If you know of a shop near you that might want to host me, please have them check my information page and contact me! Pittsburgh & MOA Knit Out If February isn't official knitting month, it should be. The days are short, the nights are long and we can all use some fiber cheer to pep us up. Luckily, I was able to attend both the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Show, and the Great American Knit Out in Bloomington, MN. Both were amazing - although at different ends of the spectrum as far as size of venue and number of attendees! I was so impressed with the quality of yarn available at the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Show - many small vendors and shops, and SO many astoundingly beautiful colorways! I taught several classes and also taught a lace class at Knit One in Pittsburgh, and - as usual when I'm in Pennsylvania - I found my students engaged and questioning and VERY enthusiastic. This is what makes teaching fun! The Mall of America is huge - and in the course of this past weekend I think I walked every mile of it. I gave a few demos, participated in an Author's Panel (note to self, steroid jokes before competing in the Fastest Knitter Contest may not be the best idea...) and I knit 170 sts in 3 minutes. As one of the International Contestants told me, "You're Queen of the Amateurs!" Yes, that's me! I'm nowhere near the speed of the pros, but I'm happy with my own designer driven rapid fire stitching! C'mon on out and see me knit!
