Row to Stitch Seaming
Using a mix of grafting and the mattress stitch, this is a great technique for joining a row edge to a stitch edge, as when attaching a sleeve to an armhole. When joining a sleeve to a sweater body it is best to begin working at the center point of the top of the sleeve toward the back underarm edge, then turn the work and repeat for the front of the sleeve join.
Lay the two pieces to be joined (piece A & piece B) edge to edge.
Step 2: On piece B, work behind a stitch in the edge row by inserting the needle into the space between the right side of the a stitch and pull the needle out from the left side of the same stitch.
Step 3: Return to piece A and insert the needle into the center of the stitch to the left of the previously worked stitch in that row. Pull the needle out from the center of the stitch 2 stitches to the left of the first stitch worked.
Repeat the above steps until both pieces are joined.
